Never in the long history of photography have 7 photographers come out of a two-year period of high school [1974-1975] to become professional photographers that continue to work as professional photographers after 50 years.
An historic photography exhibit is at the Mercy Gallery in Windsor Connecticut in the Spring of 2024 . From the two-year period of 1974 through 1975, an historic concentration of 7 professional photographers evolved from taking classes in high school at the Loomis-Chaffee School. They continue to work today after 50 years, leaving their marks on their particular areas of the Photography world.
To mark this historic event, Keith Raphael, one of this group of photographers, was inspired to approach the school for support of this landmark event and to allow for the creation of an exhibit highlighting the influence of Walter Rabetz, as well as focus on the journey of each photographer throughout their careers.
“I believed that it would be inspiring for high school students to see alumni who began at their age and the journey over 50 years with 6 perspectives. From a global perspective, I would venture to say that there are no examples anywhere in the world and in the history of photography where so many students came from a two-year period at a high school and continued to pursue their passion as professional photographers over a 50-year period".
