New York City, September 21, 2017: Throughout his life in International Finance and now deeper into his lifelong passion Photography, Keith Jay Raphael recently had an epiphany. While listening to the news in the Fall of 2016, the questions around Paul Manafort and his dealings with Ukraine political figures triggered a variety of scenarios about why he would be there and who was to benefit.
Fast forward through the next six months of related news, Keith continued to expound his theories to family and friends. By June of 2017, Keith had to incorporate his theories into a photographic collage. “I couldn’t just sit back and watch the obvious possibilities either elude the recent investigations or remain in the dark. I proceeded to embed my theory into a work that I had been developing for a couple of months.”
The result is “Follow The Money”, a photo collage incorporating images of the American flag with a horizontal timeline of information. “Alternating large images of the American flag fluttering in the wind with smaller ones was the root of the project. America can loom large or be perceived as small in an international context. In both circumstances, the fluttering flag captured in the moment [in history] will never appear exactly the same again”.
He stresses that this is just art, as he is not basing his opinions on facts in the case; just an educated theory based on parallel international financial dealings in his past.
